We have seen a surge in demand for #construction equipment (Specially cranes) all over the world Post covid period. Chinese crane #manufacturers are dominating the Indian market, But why European companies have failed to position themselves in India even after having a #robust and reliable product compare to Chinese ones?
I see the following reasons-
1- Equipment Pricing Factor- Chinese crane’s cost is at least 30% Less than #European products which makes them the number 1 choice for rental companies, low-cost equipment generates the same amount of revenue compared to European cranes.
2- Supply Chain Factor – The world (Especially Europe) is facing supply chain issues due to limited #production capacities and the waiting period ranging from 6 months to 2 Years, Whereas Chinese companies are delivering machines within 45-60 days in India.
3- After Sale Support – Chinese companies aggressively worked on their after-sales support and there is #significant improvement has been noticed.
4- Critical Spare Parts Inventory – Over the period #Chinese companies have expanded their base all over India while European cranes are still limited to Major Cities.
5- Cost & Delivery time of Spares – Due to mass #production and logistic cost Chinese cranes’ spare parts are way cheaper than European machines.
I feel that European cranes have much-advanced safety features, robust structures, and long lasting life but due to the low budget and Low Rental margin in India European make cranes the second option for Indian Market.
European Manufacturers should start working in same way (Specially cost factor or technology transfer to Indian companies) in order to build their presence in India.
